Welcome to another great year of jazz programming! The Dixie Diehards Jazz Band and Sunday Night Jazz at Steve’s Backstage Pass both have much to offer for the coming year, including a big theater show with the Dixie Diehards Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. at Blackstone River Theatre, Broad Street, Cumberland R.I.
This show features fabulous young vocalist Maria Ventura of Taunton who was named Best Female Vocalist in the 2007 Providence Phoenix poll. Maria, whose other accomplishments include opening for David Johansen (“Hot, Hot, Hot!”) in NYC as well as the Blue Man Group comedy trio, is an accomplished singer-songwriter who’s been performing since the age of 9. Tickets for the event, at $12, are available from the Blackstone River Theater or by contacting Rick Foster at 508-226-2986.
